For me, there is no greater words than the words of the actual beneficiary of the Sevashram.

Here is his original letter to me, fyi. Please do what you can do. He would be glad if you could host this ad in your page or recommend hosting this ad in your friends page. He/I would more glad if you could help this effort.

Greetings from SIVANANDA ORPHANAGE, a charitable organization from Channai, India, with a request for your help and willingness to host a small banner at your site.

Our greetings and best wishes. We are "SIVANANDA ASHRAM" (popularly known as "SIVANANDA ORPHANAGE") a non-profit N.G.O with the primary objective of protecting orphans, destitute women, the physically handicapped, AIDS affected children, and the elderly. An institution with 50 years of recorded services to thousands of poor orphans, we have helped them to become productive citizens. We not only provide food, education and shelter, but also instill character and morals to help them grow, learn and eventually become independent.

Many have visited to our ashram and witnessed our committed work. I am Dr.S. Rajaram, Honorary Correspondent, for Sivananda Ashram. As Assistant Manager of the State Bank of Patiala, my work for the ashram is in an honorary capacity. I was adopted by the founders, Sr. S.V. IYER and DR. Mrs.) V. MAGALAM. The love and affection with which I was raised resulted in my feeling secure and giving no thought to my being an orphan.

We are presently caring for 300 children and 80 poor, elderly people, all of whom are accepted with love and affection. As a learned person, you comprehend that care and maintenance for nearly 400 is an enormous undertaking. The government is giving only a nominal grant of Rs. 36 per month per resident, which is grossly insufficient at the current rate of expenses in India. Donations from benefactors help us to manage, but at times it is hand-to-mouth. Any expansion programs we consider are impossible to pursue. Hence this appeal is made to you.

We have hope of opening a women's hostel, a home for blind and deaf, as well as other units. We are also very interested in starting a Polytechnic Institution FREE OF COST for orphans in TAMIL NADU. This would be the first of its kind and would help to secure the futures of our orphaned children, preparing them for the adult life. At present, opportunities for professional training are available only to those who can pay the fees. How can orphans ever hope to change their situation without help?

We therefore implore you to help us by donating space for a small banner at your web site so that visitors will have the opportunity to give a helping hand. We are a recognized, registered organization, governed by a board of trustees. Upon receipt of your affirmative reply, I will send 2 or 3 banners and you may select the  one best suited to your site. Your generosity will help secure the futures for many orphaned children as well as the others we help.

You can visit to our web site http://www.indiadirect.com/sivananda-ashram to learn more.

I look forward to your positive reply.
